CONSTITUTION
ARTICLE I. Name
The name of this organization shall be the Community College Computer
Consortium (aka 4C) of New Jersey.
ARTICLE II. Purpose
Section 1.
To encourage an active interest in, and to work toward the improvement of,
Computer Science/Information Systems and its teachings and all diciplines
using computers as a tool. [i.e. workshops, lectures, demonstrations]
Section 2.
To afford a medium of exchange of views and facts about, as well as the
teaching of, Computer Science/Information Systems on the Two Year College
level. [i.e. textbooks, networking, programming problems]
Section 3.
To provide a voice and means of influencing computer based curricula in
the Two Year College. [i.e. course syllabi, degree and certificate programs]
Section 4.
To protect and enhance the prestige of the profession of Computer
Science/Information Systems teaching.
ARTICLE III. Membership
Section 1.
Active member (Voting): Any teacher or academic administrator of Computer
Science/Information Systems in a two year college or associate degree
granting institution.
Section 2.
Lifetime member (Voting): Any teacher or academic administrator of Computer
Science/Information Systems in a two year college or associate degree
granting institution.
Section 3.
Associate member (Voting): Any other person in sympathy with the purposes
of the association.
Section 4.
Institutional member (Voting): Any two year college interested in the
purpose of this organization.
Section 5.
Honorary member (Voting): Any former active member who has retired from
teaching.
ARTICLE IV. Officers
The officers of the organization shall be a Past President, President, a
President-Elect, a Treasurer, a Recording Secretary and a Corresponding
Secretary. These officers comprise the Executive Committee which can meet at
any time the President sees fit.
ARTICLE V. Meetings
A minimum of three annual meetings shall be held in the Fall, Winter and Spring
with dates and places open. Additional meetings will be planned at the
discretion of the Executive Committee.
ARTICLE VI. Amendments
This constitution and bylaws may be amended in accordance with Robert's
Rules of Order Revised.
ARTICLE VII. Limited Power & Dissolution
Notwithstanding any other provision of these articles, the 4C is formed
exclusively for charitable or educational purposes, as specified in section
501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and shall not carry on any other
activities not permitted to be carried on by an organization exempt from
Federal income tax under Code section 501(c)(3). Upon the dissolution of
the Community College Computer Consortium of New Jersey, any assets shall be
distributed for one or more exempt purposes within the meaning of section
501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or corresponding section of any future
Federal tax code, or shall be distributed to the Federal government, or a
state or local government, for a public purpose.
